Women's Facial Hair Removal

ByManisha Kumar

Most women will tell you they hate facial hair, especially on themselves. How you remove it depends on the amount of money you are willing to spend, and the method that is right for you. We live in a time when women don't want that unsightly hair on their faces.

As most of us don't want to look like the bearded lady, what are our options in getting rid of that annoying facial hair? Let's leave the facial hair to the men; after all, they look better wearing it than we do.

There are a quite a few different ways that you can have facial hair removed. Some of these are salon only and some are salon or home based removal systems. Either way, these are only a few of the many ways to remove hair from your face:

• Plucking - depending on what hair you want to remove, plucking can be the answer. Plucking is usually reserved for stray hairs or the eyebrows (salon/spa or home).
• Waxing - this can be a bit painful; it can be done at home and can take care of eyebrows, upper lip and chin. It can also be more expensive than other removal systems (salon/spa or home).
• Shaving - this works for quick removal but the hair will come back and it has to be repeated every few days to be effective (home).
• Thermicon removal - removing hair by thermal transference through special filaments in the device. The hair goes through three stages to be removed (home).
• Laser removal - light is directed at the hair and the dark pigment is absorbed resulting in the destruction of the hair follicle (salon/clinic or home).
• Electrolysis - destroys germ cells responsible for hair growth by inserting a fine probe into the hair follicle and applying a small current to it (salon/clinic).

Each one of these tips on hair removal systems has its pros and cons. You must find which one works best for you. Some hair removal systems will work better than others, and some better than others for certain people. Also, some removal systems are definitely cheaper. Only Thermicon and Electrolysis are acknowledged by the FDA as permanent hair removal techniques. Make sure that no matter which one you choose, it is the one that fits you and your pocket book.
