Argan Oil Hair Treatments

Natural Argan oil that originates from Morocco is widely known for its properties that makes it very valuable for skin and hair care. It is used as the primary ingredient for a lot of scalp and hair treatment products. It can also be found in some conditioning shampoos. The health benefit of this oil that is from the Moroccan Argan tree has been known for several centuries. It can protect and repair hair that has suffered some damage. When it is applied constantly, its moisturizing properties will enable your hair to become stronger, smoother and healthier.

This oil's popularity goes far beyond what people say. It has been proven by several laboratory tests in a lot of countries. It has been ascertained to contain several ingredients such as vitamins A, F and E. It also contains antioxidants, carotene, fatty acids, linoleic acid and so on. It's used for the effective treatment of eczema, wrinkles and other skin conditions. It is used widely in spas for massages and facial treatment. The antioxidant ability of this oil makes it possible for it to protect hair from destructive Ultraviolet rays from the sun. The vitamins that it contains also provide you with further benefits. Some examples are vitamin A and E that helps you to have strong and healthy hair. The moisturizing ingredient is very valuable for keeping the scalp properly nourished and healthy. Putting a few drops on the scalp daily will offer protection against dandruff. For further benefits, you can massage it properly into your scalp.

The benefits that Argan oil provides for damaged hair are numerous. It can rejuvenate it, restore the natural glow and promote healthy growth. It also has a pleasant smell and is absorbed quickly. The increasing demand for this oil is due to the restorative properties that it possesses.

Application is really very simple. It can be used prior to shampooing or even as a nightly treatment. Never use too much or else you run the risk of the oil weighing too heavily in the hair possibly leaving it greasy and heavy. First, take a small portion in the palm of your hand - five or six drops and then work into your scalp. I can't emphasize enough use a little bit first until you know the levels necessary. Then take a bit more and work into the base of the hair and massaging into the entire length of the hair. This will help straighten and repair those split ends. Leave an hour or so before shampooing. Your hair should be softer and shiner. Another application can be a small amount after washing and before blow drying. The oil is unique as it doesn't burn like most hair serums that have a chemical base. As such there will be no unpleasant smell and smokeless. Finally, for a truly deep treatment leave over night and then shampoo in the morning. This will best treat your hair and scalp. This treatment should be done 2-3 times per week for optimum results.

Keratin Treatments - What Are They?

ByDwayne Hawthorne

Everywhere you look Brazilian Keratin treatments are being marketed by tens of thousands of salons, they are being sold on coupon sites nearly every day, and they are being talked about in magazines, newspapers and hundreds of forums. They either achieve amazing results, or they are the most horrible thing you could ever get done to your hair, it all depends on the person you are talking to.

So what are keratin treatments, where did they originally come from?

Keratin treatments themselves were mainly developed in South America especially in Brazil, where the main hair type of the client there is very thick course hair. This is where these keratin treatments changed the way the client looked at their hair, with these treatments providing a finished result of smoother, less frizzy hair and most importantly for most of the clients, more manageable and straighter hair.

So then why then through Europe and Australasia, if these products were so amazing why don't we have these keratin treatments in all the salons we visit? The reason why is these manufacturers of these products have a lot to answer for.

Even though these products are labelled keratin treatments, and all their marketing showed how well the ingredient keratin, bonded to the hair and helped create that smooth straight hair everyone so desired, the ingredient keratin wasn't the ingredient doing the job. The main chemical that was achieving these results that everyone was after was a chemical called formaldehyde, a known carcinogen.

The question is why would these companies use such a known dangerous product? Well the main reason is that formaldehyde is cheap and the results it actually gives to the hair; this chemical has the ability when heat is applied to it to bind to the hair itself and fill in the defects in the hair shaft, by creating a web effect on the hair shaft.

This web effect around the hair shaft forces the hair straighten and the filling of the defects removes or decreases the frizziness in the hair shaft that we are wanting.

Formaldehyde as a chemical has and is still used in a lot of common products, from grocery bags, to bubble bath; so why has there been such an uproar in regards to the formaldehyde in these keratin treatments? Well in most of these common products the formaldehyde makes up a very miniscule amount of only around 0.2% or less of the product, unfortunately in some of the current keratin treatments they used a much stronger concentration to achieve the straight and frizz free hair that clients were wanting. In some cases the formaldehyde concentrations exceeded 10%, which is an extremely dangerous and hazardous level.

In South America, especially in Brazil where there were some very dramatic and severe reactions from people to the fumes being given off when the treatments were heated and the formaldehyde fumes were released, took severe action against these treatments and banned their use in their current form with the levels of formaldehyde in them, and normally this is where this would all end.

Unfortunately, in other countries where these treatments had only just found a market, there was no legislation in regards to formaldehyde in hair and beauty products, they boomed. Previously unknown companies popped up and grew at an amazing rate and became household names around the globe and started to bank millions of dollars, but were hiding how much of the chemical formaldehyde was actually within their products and the risks that came with them.

After a serious health complaint from a stylist who was exposed to the fumes from one of the bigger named keratin brands, government agencies worldwide started looking at these products and especially the formaldehyde percentage that the contained versus what they stated. Numerous brands from a number of companies were then banned in Europe, Australasia and Canada over a period of less than 12 months, but somehow in the US these treatments in their original high formaldehyde levels are still being sold.

Under current legislation in Europe, Canada and Australasia, a lot of these keratin treatment companies have through necessity over the last 12 months started releasing products that match up to these much stricter and safer regulations, with very little or no formaldehyde in them. These new treatments after a lot of trial and error are now starting to produce results that are starting to get to within an estimated 75% (depending on brand) the result of the original product. For most people who are looking at getting one of these treatments done is just how little the "keratin" itself actually played in these products, in a lot of the newer treatments that are being sold at the moment actually contain little or no keratin at all. But since they work in the same way to achieve the same result as a keratin treatment they have just been collectively placed in the same category as the original treatments.

There is 100's of different keratin treatments on the market that sit under this banner, with products that contain extremely high levels of formaldehyde to safer options which contain very little or no formaldehyde. Just know what you are asking for.

Aesthetic Beauty Treatments - Can You Still Look Natural?

ByKaren Tan

How many times have you heard someone gossiping in a corner because they could tell someone had "work" done on their face? Many people want to make use of the minimally invasive facial procedures now available, but there is a fear that others will notice that something is different about them. No one wants to be the talk of the town, especially if it means acknowledging that their beauty may not be entirely natural. Fortunately, taking care of your appearances and looking your best every day doesn't have to be obvious to everyone else.

Believe it or not, many of your friends, colleagues and relatives have had minimally invasive aesthetic procedures that you have never noticed. Some go into their doctor's office on their lunch hour for touch ups and new procedures while others do it on the weekends. Still others are just about to start going in for some type of procedure...but you will not notice when they do that first procedure!

It is possible to make use of the minimally invasive procedures available today without becoming the talk of the town. Here are a few tips that will help you get the aesthetic help you need without looking like you have had work done:

• Make sure the provider working on your face has been in business for at least a few years and has the training required for the treatments you want to receive.
• Go to a provider skilled in multiple aesthetic procedures. This way you know they are recommending the procedures that will work best with your face, rather than the few that they are able to provide just to get your business.
• Always go in for a thorough consultation with your provider before having any work done. If they do not suggest a consultation first, then you should find another provider.
• Always follow the recommendations of your provider after the consultation. Do not go through with procedures they say will not or may not work well for your skin or the condition of your skin.
• Follow through with treatments within the time schedule suggested by your provider. You will look more natural if it is kept up over time.
• Go for procedures that provide gradual improvements over time, rather than those that deliver immediate results.

This last tip is the key to looking natural even though you are making use of aesthetic procedures. During the consultation, let your provider know that you want to make gradual improvements so nothing looks too obvious. They will analyze your skin, ask questions about what improvements you want to make, and discuss all of the options with you. They should make recommendations on what procedures they think will give the results you want without drawing too much attention to themselves.

It's important to realize that the art of cosmetic surgery today is very different from the world of plastic surgery of the past. You don't have to go in for a facelift and hide from the world while you recover. You don't have to endure the talk of others because you have obviously had some "work" done.

It is possible to have minimally invasive aesthetic procedures and gradually improve your appearances. Others may notice that you have a glow and look better than ever, but they won't know what you have done. It could just as easily be dietary changes, weight loss or any number of lifestyle changes!
